‘The
Swedish National Coat of Arms’ for permanent use in the House
of Parliament was in production in 1986. Some of Ilhan Koman's colleagues
and former students completed the work, which was unveiled by the
Head of the Parliament on National Commemoration Day, June 6th.
‘Portal’, mobile sculpture, which was originally to be
placed in an underground station in Stockholm (1984-86) was enlarged
in order to be placed at the City Terminal, Stockholm. The sculpture
was unveiled by The King of Sweden on the occasion of the inauguration
of the City Terminal, January 20th. It has been removed from the City
Terminal in 2007.
‘Vattenvirveln’ (‘The Whirlpool’), sculpture
for the town square at Ekerö Centrum, near Stockholm, was in
production between 1985-86. Some of Ilhan Koman's colleagues and former
students completed the sculpture, which was unveiled on June 8th.
‘Three-Winged Eolian Rotor’, Huddinge Hospital, Stockholm.
Large scale bronze reproduction of a terracotta sculpture cast in
Pietrasanta, Italy. The work is implemented in the Seymenler Park,
Ankara.

One
of the authors of the ‘Groupe
Espace Manifesto’, concerning an integration of art, architecture
and urbanism, with the purpose of creating a humane milieu. The French
Ministry of Culture approved this manifesto, which was published in
Art d’Aujourd’hui Revue, No: 8, Paris (France), October.
Stage design and masks for a play by Dario Fo (‘L’Enterrement
du Patron’ / 'Funerals of the Boss') directed by Mehmet Ulusoy
at the Théâtre de Liberté, Les Halles, Paris.
These clay
studies have later been cast in bronze in limited edition commercially
available.
Directed his sculpture classes at Konstfackskolan in a project involving
one theme (Rhythm), one material (Wood), and one tool (Band-saw).
All the students took part in this study and exhibited their works
at Galleri Konstfack in December 198l. The exhibition also travelled
to Dalarnas Museum and to Södertälje Konsthall in 1983,
and was completed with a ‘public workshop’ at Kulturhuset
in Stockholm in April - August 1984, and further travelled to Nacka. |
