![]() The Ilhan Koman Foundation for Arts & Cultures was created in Istanbul in 1999 by friends and relatives of Turkish-Swedish artist Ilhan Koman (1921-1986). It works on 3 main themes, besides of promoting Ilhan Koman's artistic and scientific heritage: ART IN PUBLIC SPACE As it is managing this artist's collection, of which an important part is embodied in monumental artworks permanently erected in streets of Stockholm, Istanbul and Ankara, the Koman Foundation works on promoting ‘art in public space’; ARTS & SCIENCES As another specificity of this collection comes from the scientific properties of most of the artworks, the Koman Foundation participates actions enhancing links between 'arts and sciences' and promoting inter-disciplinary approaches; INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION Finally, as Ilhan Koman shared his life among several countries (Turkey, Belgium, France and Sweden) his foundation aims to promote exchanges among these 4 countries, as well as wider international cooperation. The Koman Foundation mostly participates in socio-cultural actions related to sculpture and to a more democratic access to arts, cultures and technology.
