' Sakarya Pitched Battle'
The competition for the composition of the reliefs on the right of the Mausoleum was won by Ilhan Koman,
who was then a student of Belling at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts Academy (Istanbul).
Koman worked with Sadi Calik in making the plaster model.
Koman’s relief deals with Sakarya War: on the lower part of the relief, the war is depicted and
on the upper, the victory.
