Built in 1989 MONUMENT: PORTAL
            (Stockholm – Sweden)                                                                (Brought to Istanbul - Turkey in 2008)

This piece has been conceived by Ilhan Koman in the 80's in Sweden, as part of his studies on Moebius bands.
It was built in monumental scale posthumously, to become the symbolic gate of the Stockholm Central Station and was inaugurated by the King of Sweden in 1989.

In 2008, the Ilhan Koman Foundation transfered this piece from Sweden to Turkey to permanently install it in the northern campus of Bogazici University (Bosphorus University, which used to be Robert American College) thanks to the financial support of Garanti Bank.

Portal is a kinetic monumental outdoor artwork. It has been prepared and renovated in Turkey by expert Mehmet Gogus.
